GREEN PLANET FILMS NEW PODCAST FOCUSES ON ENVIRONMENTAL FILMS
Includes eco film news, film festival dates, featured DVD,
and guest interview
SAN FRANCISCO, CA. October 3, 2006. Green Planet Films announces the rollout of their new initiative, a bi-monthly podcast focusing on environmental films.
Called GREENSTREAM: your source for eco film news, the podcast was created by Green Planet Films, a nonprofit environmental DVD distributor, to address the growing demand for information pertaining to environmental films, online eco channels, and film festivals. Segments include eco film news, a featured DVD, wildlife and environmental film festival updates, and an interview with selected guests related to these films and supporting services.
The October 1st Greenstream podcast will highlight the upcoming Sundance Channel Green launch, Leonardo DiCaprio’s new production about global warming called, 11th Hour, and New York City’s Transportation Alternative’s new film Contested Streets which supports reclaiming streets and turning them into vibrant public spaces. Greenstream podcast #2 will upload October 15th and cover Shifting Baseline’s new Flix Contest and Design E2, a sustainable design series hosted by Brad Pitt.
Featured DVDs offered by Green Planet Films are Texas Gold, the story of muckraker Diane Wilson and her battle against the petrochemical companies polluting the Texas Gulf, and The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil, which focuses on Cuba's transition from an industrial petroleum-based society to a sustainable society, as a result of their loss of petroleum when their source, the Soviet Union, collapsed.
Greenstream’s featured guests on the first two episodes are Peter Coyote, the voice behind many eco documentaries, and David Beschen of Greendisk, who discusses how you can responsibly dispose of all your computer-related technotrash with ease.
Environmental film festivals listed dot the globe from Turin, Italy to Shepherdstown, West Virginia, to Edmonton, Alberta, to Kuching Malaysia.
With the popular releases of An Inconvenient Truth, and documentaries such as Who Killed the Electric Car? and The Real Dirt on Farmer John, founder Suzanne Harle says people who are concerned for their future and the health of the planet, and are turning to environmental films as a way to educate themselves and others on the pressing issues of today -- such as peak oil and energy, global warming, clean water, urban sprawl, and GMO food.
